Roger Whittaker Returns To Music

Published: 2004-03-22
Troubadour Roger Whittaker is the definition of a true international singer. He was born in Kenya, got his start in Canada, has albums in French and German, and he lives in Ireland. Admitting that he has no place in the modern music world, Whittaker retired in 2001 and bought "a pile of bricks" in Ireland. His "pile of bricks" is now a rebuilt manor house fit for a spread in the best magazines. His retirement lasted about six months and Whitaker returned to music. He has not had a hit record in over two decades but Roger Whittaker loves doing what he has been doing for over 40 years – making music. At 68 he is having the time of his life playing for audiences around the world.

Whittaker has returned to where it all began with a tour of Canada. Over his career Whittaker has acquired a list of accomplishments to rival any of the big name rock stars. Although he does not speak either language, Whitaker has recorded albums in French and German. As a result he has quite a following in Europe. Whittaker admits that he doesn't know how many albums he has recorded over the years. Roger Whittaker has 250 platinum, gold, and silver awards and has sold 55 million records.

Whittaker recently released an album of favourite songs. He will also have a new album out in April with new songs called "Moments of My Life".
