This weekend, protestors gathered around the world for what has been called by the UN, one of the world's worst humanitarian crises.

Elton John, Annie Lennox and Bob Geldof were just some celebrities that added their voice to the plea for international action in war-torn Darfur, Sudan. The famous musicians, along with other stars, added their names to a letter urging the British government to action.

The later stated, "We call on our government to move Darfur to the top of its priority list until a U.N. force is deployed and the people of Darfur are protected," according to the Associated Press.

Here in Canada, masses attended protests across the country. In Toronto, Justin Trudeau hosted a rally and was joined by Senator Rom»o Dallaire. The rally included a free concert with performances from Juno Award winning Bedouin Soundclash and the Muhtadi Drummers.

An estimated 200, 000 people have been killed in the conflict and more than 2 million forced to flea from their homes.
