Jack's Mannequin Leads Tour for Cancer Research

Published: 2006-09-13
Andrew McMahon's side project, Jack's Mannequin is headlining the "Tour for the Cure" this fall to raise money for cancer research.

On the 19-city trek across the U.S., McMahon will be joined by Copeland, Daphne Loves Derby and The Hush Sound.

The funds from the tour will go to the Dear Jack Foundation, an organization founded by McMahon in July 2006 to raise funds for cancer research. The foundation supports organizations such as the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

McMahon, who is also the frontman and keyboardist for Something Corporate, experienced his own battle with cancer earlier last year. In June, 2005 McMahon was diagnosed with Acute Lymphatic Leukemia. The singer-songwriter is currently in remission after chemotherapy and a bone transplant from his sister. He is now using his talents to promote the research for a cure.

"Having fought my own battle with Leukemia, I feel an intense personal obligation to use whatever resources at my disposal to raise both money and awareness for the countless young people who are being diagnosed with similar blood diseases," he stated on the official Jack's Mannequin website.

The tour began earlier this month in Tucson, Arizona. September is Leukemia Awareness month.
