U2 recording new material with Green Day?

U2 has been busy recording new material for their next studio album. The group has been in the studio since last month with producer Rick Rubin.

Green Day will be joining U2 in the studio to remake "The Saints Are Coming" by Scottish punk rockers the Skids. This is to help benefit Music Rising, which gathers money to replace instruments lost and or destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. Music Rising was co-founded by U2's guitarist, The Edge.

A statement was posted on Green Day's web site saying, "It's hard to believe parts of the Gulf region still remain devastated. We feel it is important to continue to raise awareness." While both bands are busy recording their new studio albums, they both will make time to record this single since they look to New Orleans as a hotbed of music and
