One x One and eTalk Combine Stars, Music and Giving

The Toronto International Film Festival is here and that means stars and parties. But one party is making sure to celebrate for a cause.

The second annual ONE x ONE Benefit Gala is kicking off this year's film festival with a night of music and storytelling to raise money for children in Canada and around the world.

The event will be hosted by Academy Award winning actor Matt Damon with musical performances by R&B singer and Grammy winner, John Legend, ONE x ONE musical ambassadors Raine Maida and Chantal Kreviazuk and the African Children's Choir. This year's storytellers include Olympian and Right to Play Ambassador Clara Hughes, Rwanda genocide survivor ImmaculČe Ilibagiza and Director of the UN Millennium Project, Professor Jeffrey Sachs.

Joelle Adler, president of clothing company Diesel Canada and founder of ONE x ONE began the event last year, raising $1.3 million for charities like War Child Canada, Right to Play, Child Find, Boys & Girls Clubs of Canada and the African Children's Choir.

"What began as one special evening last year has blossomed into an entity that will have a tremendous impact on the lives of children domestically and internationally," Adler revealed on the One x One website. "Our partners who are donating their time and energy are not only incredible performers but outstanding humanitarians, and their support is a testament to our organization."

But the giving doesn't stop there. With the help of the Barenaked Ladies, eTalk revealed yesterday that their TIFF celebrity gift bag will be the gift that keeps on giving. Instead of the usual bag filled with expensive goodies that celebrities don't need, stars that visit eTalk's interview lounge will receive a note that a donation has been made on their behalf to the ONE x ONE foundation. The note will appear in a Umbra-frame inside a deluxe Delsey suitcase provided by Samboro. eTalk's contribution will be a five-figure cash donation.

One x One takes place on Sunday, Sept. 10 at the Carlu in downtown Toronto. To make a donation or purchase a ticket, call 416-256-1291 or you can visit the official website at:
