REM Reunites for Georgia Music Hall of Fame

Published: 2006-09-06
The original members of REM are getting back together for the band's induction into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame.

Drummer Bill Berry, who left the band in 1997, will return to perform three songs with remaining members, vocalist Michael Stipe, guitarist Peter Buck and bassist Mike Mills. Berry has only joined his bandmates three times since his departure. The reunion will take place at the ceremony for the induction on Sept. 16 in Atlanta, according to Billboard.

Fans can currently enjoy the reunited four on their upcoming 'best of' release, And I Feel Fine, which showcases REM's best from 1983-87. Set to hit stores Sept. 12, And I Feel Fine will come in two versions, a single disc featuring 21 of their greatest hits and a two-disc Collector's Edition, which comes with a second disc of rarities and unreleased songs. The band will also be releasing a DVD, When the Light is Mine of live performances and videos.

After the induction, REM will head back to the studio to work on their next album, the follow-up to 2004's Around the Sun.
