CMA Nominees Announced, Brad Paisley, Brooks and Dunn Take the Lead

Published: 2006-08-31
Brad Paisley and veteran country duo Brooks and Dunn tied for most nominations with six nods a piece when nominations for the Country Music Awards were announced on August 30.

Noticeably missing from the list of nominees were the Dixie Chicks, who have been receiving a chilly reception from country music since claiming to be ashamed to come from the same state as President George W. Bush at a concert in London in 2003.

Following closely are Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban and American Idol winner Carrie Underwood, who all have four nominations under their belt.

This year's entertainer of the year category is an all boy battle with Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts and Keith Urban all vying for the top prize.

The awards will take place on November 6 in Nashville, Tennessee.
