John Legend to 'Get Lifted' on Sophomore Album

Published: 2006-08-22
How do you follow up a mega successful Grammy winning album? Well if you are R&B singer-songwriter, John Legend, you go back in the studio and don't think about the Grammys you've won or how much success has spawned off your debut album. Instead Legend went into recording his new album with the same way he went into recording for his first; with hunger, humility, and fear.

For Legend's follow up to his debut album, Get Lifted, he had the help of producers Kanye West, the Black Eyed Peas', and Raphael Saadiq all on board. He taught himself not to fall into the pressure for the recording and writing process of his new album.

Some of the songs on his new album gave way to influences that range from Stevie Wonder to the late Marvin Gaye, especially in the song, "Show Me". Legend calls the song a spiritual love song that has universal appeal to just about anyone. Legend's new album entitled Once Again is due out October 24.
