Jay-Z plugs H-to-the-2-O with the UN and MTV

Rapper turned record exec Jay-Z wants to bring attention to the world's water crisis.

On August 9, Jay-Z teamed up with MTV president Christina Norman and UN Secretary General Kofi Annan to announce his plans for a world tour - but it's not what you may think. Though he will be doing some rapping on the road, his main goal will be to help film a documentary Diary of Jay-Z: Water For Life.

According to Reuters Jay-Z said, "As I started looking around and looking at ways I can become helpful, it started with water. Something as simple as water." According Reuters Anan went on to say, "More than 1 billion people around the world lack access to safe drinking water."

Jay-Z hopes that the documentary, that will air November 24 on MTV channels worldwide, will bring the message to the younger generation so they can begin to do something to change it.

Details of the tour have not been released.
