Death From Above 1979 call it quits

Published: 2006-08-08
To quite possibly nobody's surprise, Canadian rock duo, Death From Above 1979, is now, wellÖdead. The duo decided to go their separate ways about a year ago. Their record label decided to keep the split quiet in hopes of a reunion between the two, but it wasn't until recently that Jesse F. Keeler made it official on their web site:

"Over the last 3 years of touring, Sebastien and I had grown apart to such an extent that the only real time we spoke was just before we would play and during interviews."

The Toronto-based indie rock band, which was Sebastien Grainger and Jesse F. Keeler, sparked a dance/synth pop-rock movement up North.

In Canada they were signed to Last Gang Records and in the United States, Vice Records, respectively. In 2004, the duo released You're A Woman, I'm A Machine followed by a remix and b-side album entitled Romance Bloody Romance in 2005.
