Clay Aiken finds 'A Thousand Different Ways' on his new record

Published: 2006-08-04
American Idol's season two runner-up is getting set to drop his third album this fall.

Though Aiken was only the runner-up in the second American Idol contest, he did manage to walk away with a very loyal fan base that helped him sell more than two million copies of his 2003 debut Measure of A Man and over a million copies of his Christmas CD in the US.

Now he's getting set to drop his newest record on September 19, A Thousand Different Ways. The record will consist of 10 covers of artists like Bryan Adams, Dolly Parton and Richard Marx. It will also feature four original tunes. Here are the tunes:

"Right Here Waiting," originally recorded by Richard Marx
"When I See You Smile," originally recorded by Bad English
"Without You," originally recorded by Badfinger
"Lonely No More"
"Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word," originally recorded by Elton John
"Everytime You Go Away," originally recorded by Paul Young
"Everything I Do (I Do It For You)," originally recorded by Bryan Adams
"I Want to Know What Love Is," featuring Suzie McNeil; originally recorded by Foreigner
"These Open Arms"
"Because You Loved Me," originally recorded by Celine Dion
"Here You Come Again," originally recorded by Dolly Parton
"Everything I Have," featuring William Joseph
"A Thousand Days"
"Broken Wings," originally recorded by Mr. Mister

Coincidentally his album is coming out the week prior to the American Idol winner for season two, Ruben Studdard.

I'm really looking forward to his 3rd album, "A Thousand Different Ways", which includes most of my favorite love songs and those new songs I love to hear as well.
I've seen his photoshoot on ET and he looks sooooo gorgeous and a very dashing gentleman; really can't wait to have his album with that gorgeous shoot. Well, with a very powerful voice like his and the beautiful love songs that he had chosen for his album, I know he can pull it off again and those people will like/love him (non-fans),even more. I just hope in the future or in the years to come, Clay Aiken will be referred to as a "singer/performer" or a "great artist" and not as a "American Idol runner-up", however, we wouldn't know Clay if it wasn't for that show and no disrespect to that American Idol show, but Clay has already proven his worth, as a singer, as a performer, as an entertainer aaannnddd... as a "great artist" as a whole. He doesn't need to be referred to as a season's runner-up from that show. Anyways, we love you Clay and more Power to you!!! Go CLAY Go!!! P.S. Can anyone tell me how to become a CLAYMATE member? I'm very eager to be a part of you guys, heh heh heh!!!

Although the albums of Clay Aiken and Ruben Studdard are releasing at the same time, I don't think it is a contest. I think Clay thinks of it as something wonderful happening to Ruben and to him. They are good friends. Plust they are worlds apart in style. I like them both, but I have to say that I have been a Claymate since before we had that name. Clay is going to make all of the songs his own.

I like most of the song choices and I can't wait to hear Clay sing them, but I'm a little disappointed that "Back For More" was not included on the album. This song was a big hit at the concerts I went to!!!

hahah, you say coincidentally coming out with Ruben's album? i dont quite think so. Producers of both artists fancy to do little competitions each time it can be done. well, it doesnt matter.
Like Measure of a Man, i am sure that A Thousand Different Ways will go platinum again!! i have faith in Clay!

Yeah, well, what else? oh yeah! im really looking forward to his album. i've listened to several samples of songs that will be on his album, and they are just SO beautiful! his voice is as mesmerizing as before, even a little more, i could say!
so... thank you for the article! i hope you're looking forward to this album as much as i do!!! ^^

I heard him duet with Suzie McNeil on promosquad this week. The song was "I Want To Know What Love Is". I was very impressed. If the other songs are as innovative and high quality, I'll buy this CD.

Anxiously awaiting the arrival of Mr. Aiken's latest work of heart! This man has an AWESOME voice and will make any song a vocal treasure. I hope it does well so he can entertain us for years to come. You need a new photo, he looks nothing like this now. Much improved appearance!
