Monica putting finishing touches on new album

Published: 2006-08-01
R&B songbird, Monica, is set to release her fourth album entitled, The Makings of Me. The first single called "Everytime Tha Beat Drop" is an up tempo track that was produced by Jermaine Dupri and features Dem Franchize Boyz. Other producers include Missy Elliot and the Underdogs.

According to Monica, this album is supposed to be even more in-depth than her last, 2003's After the Storm. "After the Storm was really a reflection of being in the midst of figuring things out. I've been able to put a lot more in perspective this time around."

Many of the tracks on Monica's new album come from the singer's own poetry, which is why the album became so personal. Monica admits that when things got in-depth, she needed her close friends by her side. For instance, rapper/producer Missy Elliot was there by her side when she was in need of a friend when putting her thoughts down on paper.

Expect Monica's new album, The Makings of Me to hit stores September 26.
