Wakestock: ride the waves at Toronto Islands

Published: 2006-07-28
The world's premiere wakeboarding championship, Wakestock, knows that nothing mixes better than extreme sports, beaches and great live music. The festival, which is also Canada's largest action sport and music event, will be at Toronto Islands from August 10 to 13.

While the festival is mainly about watching some of the world's best wakeboarders in action, it will also host some great bands on three stages. Some of the bands performing include No Use for a Name, Constantines, Sloan, Pilot Speed (formerly Pilate), Thornley, The Trews, Mobile, Kardinal Offishall and Panic and The Rebel Emergency, among various others.

Wakestock is not only about water sports. The festival will also showcase some of the world's top freestyle motocross riders, such as Rudy Waller, Jason Thorne, from Ontario and Robbie Maddison.

If watching all these daredevils makes you itch for a chance to show off your own extreme side, be sure to bring your skateboard along. Wakestock and SBC Skateboard Magazine will provide festival goers with the opportunity to use the skate park located at Centre Island.

Tickets can be purchased individually for each day or a four-day pass can let you enjoy the entire festival. For more information, visit www.wakestock.com.
