Lost Jimi Hendrix tune for sale

Published: 2006-07-26
The reels and rights to a lost Jimi Hendrix song are going on the auction block this fall.

The guitar guru's tune "Station Break" was written by Hendrix and Jerry Simon, president of R.S.V.P. Music in 1966 just prior to forming the Experience.

According to E!Online Simon's widow, Celeste Simon, says the tune didn't surface until 1994. Simon came upon the recording in a closet and realized it had not been released.

The profits will be split between Simon and the Hendrix estate. Janie Hendrix, Jimi's sister and the president and CEO of the company that oversees his legacy says of the unreleased tune, "We have acquired most of these but there are still a few stragglers. I did not know about this one," adding, "We will have to have discussions about this as there could be copyright issues."

After gaining iconic musical status for his songwriting and especially his spectacular guitar playing, Hendrix died suddenly in London in 1970 at the age of 27.
