National Geographic invites you to travel the World through Music

Have you ever wanted to dance to flamenco music in Spain? Perhaps you prefer the groove of afrobeat from Nigeria.

Cultured and curious music lovers can now enjoy all there is to know about world music through National Geographic's new online world music store.

This new offering is more than just a music store. It is a world of music knowledge. The music offered ranges from traditional folk music to more contemporary fusion music.

Music is divided by artists, albums, genres and regions, allowing users to browse through the site in search of their favourite locations and songs or discover something new. The site is complemented with biographies, articles, maps, audio and video media for preview or purchase and related music suggestions.

Artists that are featured on the site include Brazilian Seu Jorge, Cape Verde's Cesaria …vora, Khaled, from Algeria and thousands more.

Tom Pryor, former editor for Global Rhythm magazine, edits National Geographic World Music. The site has teamed up with Calabash Music, which dubs itself the world's "first fair trade music company.
