Evanescence Opens a new Door

Published: 2006-06-23
Evanescence's lead singer, Amy Lee, has proven that two heads are not always stronger than one. The band has revealed the follow-up album to 2003's Fallen will be released this fall.

The album, entitled The Open Door, will be Evanescence's first release since co-founder Ben Moody dramatically left the band in 2003. Moody has since been replaced by the former guitarist for Cold, Terry Balsamo.

With Moody gone, Lee now has the lead role in writing the band's music and has decided to take it in a different direction. In an interview with Jam! Music, Lee said with Moody's departure, fans should not necessarily expect more femininity from the new album.

The Open Door, she says, is at times heavier than the band's last album, which featured hit singles such as "Bring Me to Life" and the depressing and sorrowful "My Immortal." With her newfound control, Lee feels she has grown as an artist and has made an album that reflects her dreams as a singer and songwriter.

The Open Door, will hit stores October 3rd and features 13 new tracks, including the first single "Call Me When You're Sober."

I am relieved, excited and happy for Amy. She has been able do what every artist truly aspires to do, which is create your own music, which reflects you as a person.
I think the album will not only be amazing, it will surpass the success of Fallen, as it will truly be representative of the amazing and beautiful artist that is Amy Lee.

Evanescence is such a unique hardchore band. "Choir voices singing with electric guitars, classical piano, hard drums, etc." Thats why even Evanescence suddenly disapear I never change it as my most favorite band. I'm so excited to hear those 13 new songs sung by a rocker with a wonderful soaring voice.

Kate B... You wanna Aussie fan site? Start it. That's what the web is all about. Yeah, Fallen rocked, but I have seen many bands fall apart after the drivin force bailed. I will be the first to admit that Amy has a crackin voice, but was it her or Mr Moody that pushed out the gut bustin tunes? I'm hopin that Ben bailin won't kill it (cos I got the album on preorder)... But my breath is baited. Finger crosssed, aye kids?
