Yellowcard, Rihanna and more rock MMVAs, Kardinal Offishall wins big

The corner of Queen and John Streets in Toronto were closed off yet again Sunday night for the Nation's Music Station's annual awards show.

The big winner at this year's MuchMusic Video Awards was Toronto's own hip-hop guru Kardinal Offishall, taking home three awards for the single "Everyday (Rudebwoy)" including best director, best video and the VideoFACT award.

The awards that warranted the largest screams were the People's Choice awards with Favourite Canadian Artist going to City and Colour (aka Alexisonfire's Dallas Green) who thanked his band mates in his acceptance speech. Favourite Canadian band went to scream inducing pop-punkers Simple Plan.

For international artists, Canadians chose American Idol, Kelly Clarkson as their Favourite International Artist and show closers Fall Out Boy as their Favourite International Group.

All of the People's Choice winners, except Clarkson who wasn't there, performed at the show along with other crowd favourites like, rockers Yellowcard, Canadian Idol cast off - Jacob Hoggard fronting pop-rock band Hedley and indie-rockers Metric. The crowd got their dance on to the beats of Barbadian Rihanna and Canada's own Nelly Furtado.

Though it was a music awards show, guests included everyone from actors, models, TV hosts to celebrity Paris Hilton, whose profession we're still trying to find a proper title for.
