John Mayer is ëWaiting for the World to Changeí

Singer-songwriter John Mayer is getting ready to release a brand new record this fall.

Mayer is releasing the follow up to his 2003 release Heavier Things which included the 2005 Grammy Award winner for Song of the Year "Daughters."

Last year Mayer toured with musical veterans, drummer Steve Jordan and bassist Pino Palladino as the John Mayer Trio moved in a slightly different musical direction and into a more bluesy sound. That sound will sneak its way onto Mayer's new record Continuum which was co-produced by fellow trio member Steve Jordan.

The record, due out September 12th, is preceded by his first single "Waiting on the World to Change" which is set to hit the radio on July 10th. Members of Mayer's fan club Local-83 got a sneak peek, or should I say a sneak listen, to the new tune when it streamed on the "members only" website June 14th. The single is also currently streaming on John Mayer's official website and MySpace.

Mayer will also embark on a tour behind the new record, hitting the road with alt-rock heavyweight and recent cancer survivor Sheryl Crow this fall. The tour will have only one Canadian stop in Vancouver on September 22nd.
