Barenaked Ladies take it ŽEasyŪ

The quintessential Canadian band, the Barenaked Ladies are getting set to release a new record this fall.

Barenaked Ladies Are Me will be the follow up to the band's 2004 holiday album and their 2003 release Everything to Everyone. It will be the band's first non-holiday release on Desperation Records, the band's own label.

Though they've been out of the limelight for a bit, the Barenaked boys have been keeping busy. In the summer of 2005 the band wrote the music for Stratford Festival's musical production of Shakespeare's As You Like It and took part in the Canadian Live 8 concert. They also recorded some tunes in 'Simlish' for a new expansion pack for the game The Sims 2.

To prepare for the September 12th release of their new record, the band has released their first single "Easy" for download on their website. For $2.49 fans can re-mix and re-edit the tune and send it back to the band to choose the best re-mix. This is the first of five tunes that the band will release for fans to tinker with. The best of each of the five songs will be put on a charity EP.

Though no specific dates have been mentioned, the band does plan to tour behind the record this fall.
