The Roots get their 'Game' going

Published: 2006-06-19
Hip-hop act, the Roots, decided to part ways with Geffen Records last year and made a move to Def Jam.
As the group gets ready to release their first album for Def Jam records called Game Theory, public opinion of the Roots may have already changed, possibly in the group's favour.
Roots member Black Thought says that the switch to Def Jam may have given the group a lot more street credibility.
"When people see that we're signed to Def Jam, the perception has changed. That holds a lot more weight on a street level than Geffen Records does."
The album, noted to be a bit darker than their previous efforts, includes a tribute to the late J-Dilla called "Can't Stop," which consists of commemorative quotes from the producer's colleagues.
Expect surprise duets and reunited members on the new disc, slated to hit stores on August 29th.
The Roots plan to tour behind this album well into 2007.
