Snow Patrol reschedules tour

Published: 2006-06-16
Indie-rockers Snow Patrol have rescheduled their tour due to lead singer Gary Lightbody's ongoing medical issues.

The singer was diagnosed with "polypoid lesions" on his vocal chords due to overuse. As a result, the band has had to reschedule the North American leg of their tour to support their upcoming album Eyes Open that was released last month.

According to their official website Lightbody says, "I'm so sorry about this but I've been advised by the doctor to not do any shows for a month. I may also need surgery but the initial suggestion from the doc is for me to rest at home for that time and see how I am in a few weeks."

He goes on to say, "I hope you all understand that if I could do this tour right now I would but I'm worried to go against doctor's advice would lead to serious, even irreversible, problems further down the line."

The band originally had three dates here in Canada: June 6th in Montreal, June 7th in Toronto and June 14th in Vancouver. The Toronto show has been rescheduled to September 13th and will stay at Kool Haus. Remaining tickets will go on sale at 10a.m. June 22nd. The Vancouver show has been postponed until September 21st and will move from the Commodore Ballroom to PNE Forum. Tickets for this show will go on sale at 10a.m. July 7th. No information as of yet on the rescheduled Montreal show, though the official website assures that all cities on the tour will remain the same.

All tickets for the June shows will be redeemable at the newly scheduled shows or available for refund at point of purchase.
