Founding Beach Boys reunite

The remaining founding members of the iconic pop-music band the Beach Boys got together June 13th to celebrate their legacy.

Founding members Brian Wilson, Mike Love and Al Jardine along with later Beach Boys Bruce Johnson and David Marks got together to celebrate two Beach Boy landmarks: the 40th anniversary of their classic record Pet Sounds and double platinum awards for their "best of" record Sounds of Summer: The Very Best of the Beach Boys released in 2003.

The boys' poppy surfer sound made waves in the 60s with hits like "California Girls", "Surfin' USA" and "Good Vibrations." Though the boys were sometimes labeled as just a shallow pop sensation during their heyday, albums like Pet Sounds were later heralded as highly sophisticated and complex pop songs.

The band officially broke up in 1998 after the death of founding member Carl Wilson. His brother and other founding member Dennis Wilson passed away in 1983.

Over the years Mike Love has toured with his own band under the name Beach Boys and has been caught up in legal battles over rights to the name with Brian Wilson. In spite of past bickering, according to Reuters the two "seemed relaxed together." So relaxed that they hinted a Beach Boy reunion on-stage is a possibility.

"There's a chance of that," Wilson said.

After all these years they should get back together and play the music they made. Dennis, Al and Mike have to get over their ego's which are way too big. Especially Mike Love's. they were great together and maybe Dennis could get his writing skills back again an bring out a new tune.
