David Crowder Band MSN Artist of the Month for July?

The David Crowder Band has taken a huge lead in the race for the MSN Music's Artist of the Month in July.

As of 2:42 p.m., June 14th, the rock worship band from Waco, Texas had 71 percent of the more than 201,000 votes in the race to become the MSN Music Artist of the Month for July.

The band came together in the 90s when Crowder began leading worship at church as a student. In 1999, the band released their first album All I Can Say. Their most recent album A Collision, or (3+4=7) took home Rock/Contemporary Album of the Year and the single "Here is Our King" won Rock/Contemporary Song of the Year at the Gospel Music Awards. They also took home an award for their involvement with the soundtrack for the film The Chronicles of Narnia:The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.

The band could very likely be adding MSN Music's July Artist of the Month to their list of awards if they manage to beat out R&B crooner Frankie J, rapper Busta Rhymes and Canadians Neil Young and Nelly Furtado.

As of about 5:15p.m. on June 14th, DCB took 70 percent of the votes while Nelly Furtado came a distant second with 23 percent.
