Panic! At The Disco bicker with former bassist

Published: 2006-06-14
Last month pop rock group Panic! At the Disco parted ways with their bassist Brent Wilson stating on their official website, "We regret to inform you that Brent is no longer a part of Panic! At the Disco, and although this choice does feel very healthy, he is a great friend of ours and he will definitely be missed."

But apparently that was not the end of the story.

The booted bassist told MTV, "I was kicked out of the band. It was 100 percent a surprise to me."

He went on to explain that though his former band mates Brendon Urie, Ryan Ross and Spencer Smith told the media that the parting was amicableůit was not.

"The [story] they told you made me really angry, because they said the matter was discussed as a band, and it wasn't discussed at all," said Wilson.

Smith responded by telling MTV in an e-mail: "We made the decision based on Brent's lack of responsibility and the fact that he wasn't progressing musically with the band."

Smith went on to say that Wilson didn't record any of the bass parts on the band's debut album A Fever You Can't Sweat Out.

"Our record would've sounded absolutely the same even if Brent wasn't in the band during the writing or recording process," he continued. "These are all things that only a few people know, and we were fine with that. Stating these things would only make Brent look bad and we had no intention of doing that."

The remaining members of Panic! At the Disco are heading out on the road with temporary bassist Jon Walker this summer.
