Lollapalooza looks for the ŽLast Band StandingŪ

If you've ever dreamed of playing with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kanye West and many other music movers at Lollapalooza, then the festival's organizers are giving you the chance.

Lollapalooza organizers are looking for an opening act to the Chicago music festival that takes place from August 4th-6th through the "Last Band Standing" contest.

To enter, bands have to submit info and tunes to the Lollapalooza website and then get their fans to vote for them as much as they can on the site. The top 100 bands move on to round two of the competition.

In the second round celebrity judges (which according to the Lollapalooza website include former Jane's Addiction member Perry Farrell) will choose 12 Chicago-based semi-finalists and 20 semi-finalists from elsewhere.

In round three the semi-finalists from Chicago will perform in the city and have their shows videotaped so fans can vote on one finalist. Bands from outside Chicago and the around the world will send in two songs for people to vote on and choose four more finalists.

The finalists will be whittled down to one band by the celebrity judges after a 20-minute performance from each band on August 2nd.

The winner will get an opening slot at Lollapalooza, $10 000 worth of equipment and other band promo goodies and Lollapalooza stuff.

Your band can still enter right now on the Lollapalooza website.
