Allison Moorer ëGetting Somwhereí on new album

Published: 2006-06-13
Allison Moorer's new record is a little less country and a little more rock n' roll.

Moorer exploded onto the scene in 1999 when her single "A Soft Place to Fall" was nominated for an Oscar after being featured in the Robert Redford film The Horse Whisperer. She was also featured on the Kid Rock single "Picture" when Sheryl Crow backed out on the project. Crow later returned and was featured in the video and radio single for the song.

The alt-country singer-songwriter is going in a more pop-rock direction on her newest release Getting Somewhere. The artist's sixth record gets that bit of rock infusion from her producer and husband Steve Earle.

Other members of her family are featured prominently on the disc as subjects for songs with "How She Does It" a song about her mother's death and the song "Where You Are" which according to ChartAttack, "is a love letter to Moorer's sister, recording artist Shelby Lynne."

Here are the other tracks on her album:

"Work To Do"
"You'll Never Know"
"New Years Day"
"How She Does It"
"Where Are You"
"Take It So Hard"
"If It's Just For Today"
"Getting Somewhere"

Moorer will also be heading out on the road and stopping in Canada for a few dates:

July 7, Winnipeg, MB - Winnipeg Folk Festival
July 8, Courtenay, BC - Vancouver Island MusicFest
July 24, Vancouver, BC - Orpheum Theater (with Chris Isaak)
July 25, Victoria, BC - Royal Theatre (with Chris Isaak)
