Jacksoul bares their soul

Published: 2006-06-12
Canadian R&B soul sensation Jacksoul are sharing their souls on their new record.

The band, fronted by singer Haydain Neale, began to carve a niche for themselves in Canadian radio with their 2000 record Sleepless which spawned the single "Can't Stop."

The idea for their newest record MySoul dawned upon them after performing the Guess Who's "These Eyes" at the rocker's induction into the Canadian Songwriter's Hall of Fame. That one cover set off an entire record of cover songs described on their official website as "a tribute to some of the most soulful recordings ever made."

Though the songs they cover are soulful, they are not necessarily by soul singers as the band tackles everyone from Curtis Mayfield to David Bowie, Radiohead and even Ashlee Simpson.

The album is rounded of with a bit of Jacksoul's own brand of soul with the original song "oneSONG."

Here are the tracks you'll find:

"My Ever Changing Moods" (Style Council)
"Superfly" (Curtis Mayfield)
"Love TKO" (Teddy Pendergrass)
"Ashes To Ashes" (David Bowie)
"Try" (Blue Rodeo)
"These Eyes" (The Guess Who)
"Been Caught Stealing" (Jane's Addiction)
"High & Dry" (Radiohead)
"Pieces Of Me" (Ashlee Simpson)
"It's Over" (Level 42)
"Knock On Wood" (Eddie Floyd)
"1979" (Smashing Pumpkins)
"Change Is Gonna Come" (Sam Cooke)
