Westfest celebrates talent in Ottawa

Published: 2006-06-09
This weekend, Ottawa's trendy eco-friendly neighbourhood of Westboro Village will host its third annual Westfest, an interdisciplinary arts festival celebrating Canadian talent.

This festival is the only one of its kind in Ottawa, celebrating an abundance of top-level artists in music, literature, spoken word, visual art, dance and performance art. This is an opportunity to catch growing artists from inside and outside the Ottawa area, at one venue, free of charge.

This year's performers include musical acts such as the Skydiggers, Elliott Brood, Emm Gryner and Jim Bryson, acrobatic dancer Koichi Yano, who was trained in Japan and international best-selling author Ann-Marie MacDonald. The festival is spread out across 10 blocks in Westboro Village and is held directly on the street.

Not only does Westfest host amazing performers but it also provides an opportunity for the public to enjoy all the food, drink and shopping that this trendy little neighbourhood has to offer. The festival has received all its funding from local neighbourhood merchants and companies.

You can find Westfest on Richmond Road in Ottawa's Westboro neighbourhood, June 10th and 11th..
