Billy Preston RIP

Singer, songwriter and keyboardist Billy Preston passed away on June 3rd at the age of 59.

The legend who has worked with many of the finest musicians of his time went into a coma due to complications of hypertension. He passed away in a hospital in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Preston made a name for himself collaborating with the likes of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. A friend of Beatle George Harrison, Preston joined the foursome on Let it Be contributing his own flavour to the single "Get Back." He also played on solo records for all the Beatles except Paul McCartney.

According to the Associated Press he also "toured and recorded extensively with the Rolling Stones" playing on albums like Sticky Fingers,Exile on Main Street and more recently Bridges to Babylon.

Preston also contributed to records by Aretha Franklin and Bob Dylan and co-wrote Joe Cocker's hit song "You Are So Beautiful". Most recently he played on Neil Diamond's 12 Songs and the Red Hot Chili Pepper's chart topping new album Stadium Arcadium

Though he went through some personal battles with drugs and insurance fraudóit is his great contribution to music that he will be most remembered for.
