Montreal Jazz Festival Calls Musicians to Jazz it up

The 27th Annual Montreal Jazz Festival is set to fill the streets of the city with musicians from all over the world.

Over 150 indoor concerts will take place from June 29th - July 9th in, of course, the city of Montreal. Aside from these concerts a slew of outdoor shows and activities will also be taking place but full details will not be announced until June 6th.

Though billed as a Jazz festival, the celebrations will include a variety of singer-songwriters in everything from jazz and blues to reggae, hip hop, folk and even a bit of rock. Big names bringing themselves to the city for the fest include blues legend BB King, British rocker Elvis Costello, crooner Tony Bennett, folk singer-songwriter Paul Simon, country star Bonnie Raitt and the incomparable songstress Etta James.

Other artists dropping into the fest include Ani DiFranco, Chris Botti, Cat Power, Jamie Cullum, Bell Orchestre, and the Roots.

Of course there will be an impressive Canadian contingency at the show including Toronto-based pop reggae trio Bedouin Soundclash, Nova Scotia MC Buck 65, crooner Matt Dusk as well as singer-songstress and hometown girl Martha Wainwright.
