Nike Teams with iPod Nano

Published: 2006-05-25
Nike has teamed up with Apple in an attempt to reach out to a generation of active music listeners.

A new wireless system called the Nike+iPod Sports Kit will retail for about $29 (US) and will contain a sensor for your Nike shoes and an attachment for your iPod Nano so that the two devices can swap information about your athletic performance. The device is meant to track performance including running time, distance, pace and calories burned and display the information on the screen of your Nano or through its earphones.

Also, to incorporate the Nano's music playing capabilities into the mix, the device will also help to choreograph songs for your workout and will include a feature to choose "power songs" to play at the touch of a button while working out.

However, to make all of this work you'll of course need to own not only the Sports Kit but an iPod Nano and a pair of Nike shoes that will fit the shoe sensor.

The system and shoes will be available in a couple of months.
