Dixie Chicks ŽTaking the Long WayŪ

Published: 2006-05-23
Texan rabble-rousers The Dixie Chicks are taking their newest album on the road.

Their 40 plus date tour is being referred to as "The Accidents and Accusations Tour", taking a lyric from the song "Easy Silence" from their new album Taking the Long Way due out June 12.

The pop country ladies achieved success with crossover hits like "Wide Open Spaces", "Without You" and "Landslide". In 2003 they began some political controversy when lead singer Natalie Maines announced that they were "ashamed" that American President George W. Bush is from Texas, at a concert in London.

It is yet to be determined whether or not their outspoken nature will make a big dent on their album or concert ticket sales, but if you support these chicks' political views or just want to check out some good ol' country music check them out at these Canadian dates.

I am now and will always be a "Dixie Chicks" fan. I have missed them so much and am so excited that they are coming back into the fold...so to speak. I was/am so sorry over what happened in 2003. Given the political climate back then and what it is today, country fans everywhere will be front and center for these sorely missed and so talented "Chicks." When are ya coming to Houston??

Despite the fact I'm a proud Canadian I give two thumbs up to the DC for calling Bush out for the person he truly is. It's interesting to note that all those rednecks who are yelling at the DC for their comments are at home in the US instead of in Iraq or Afghanistan. Is this just another case of do as I say and not what I do? Bush and Cheney have been doing that for years.
