Paradox Project Hosts CJYC success

Published: 2006-05-23
Over 1,500 young people from Quebec gathered at the ConfČrence Jeunesse Youth Convention (CJYC) from May 19-21 in Montreal to experience the music and dig deeper into their Christian faith. Both Francophones and Anglophones from different cultural and denominational backgrounds were united in worship and workshops that broke down differences and built on their combined strength.

CJYC was held this year at the MontrČal Maurice-Richard arena, in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough. Paradox Project director, Normand Charlebois, who is behind this CJYC initiative, says the purpose of the project is to underline the potential in each young person to be a hero for their generation and to have an impact on their surroundings.

The organization bears the name Paradox Project, as it is considered a paradox nowadays that young people would openly manifest their faith in God. Newsboys, Sanctus Real, Starfield, and T.R.U.T.H. were the musical acts for the weekend and CJYC also gave the opportunity to the attending youth to join their efforts in contributing a donation towards relief-organization Massy-Canada. The sum of $5,100 was collected and offered to Massy-Canada's coordinator on the closing day, and funds will go towards local development in an Ivory Coast village.
