David Bowie Breaks for High Line

Published: 2006-05-11
For most people going on a break means relaxing, maybe taking a trip, going to a spa or just sitting back with a good book. But for David Bowie apparently going on a break means planning a new music festival.

The thin white duke announced recently that he'd be taking a year off from the music industry, no touring, or albums for a year. But apparently planning his new music festival doesn't count.

The High Line Festival planned by Bowie will debut May 2007 with Bowie himself as headliner. But of course a music festival isn't a music festival with only one act and according to Reuters Bowie said in a statement, "I've been particularly excited about seeking out emerging artists and giving them a place in a festival that will feature some very well-known names." But aside from Bowie no word has been released on which other bands may play.

Set to take place in the High Line District in Manhattan the festival will also feature visual art, performance art and film.

Bowie has so much to offer... I would LOVE IT if David Bowie had his industry reps reproduce both, music DVD tour for REALITY - and - ZIGGY STARDUST, THE MOVIE, in IMAX 3-D. Pink Floyd has already got a couple of their films out, in the IMAX format... Along with Led Zepplin. These are huge events for any music fan. We've got a fabulous IMAX theater here at the Space Needle in Seattle... Where, the images are so large, it would be just like David Bowie sitting beside you!
