Red Hot Chili Peppers have Hearts Broken by Leak

Published: 2006-05-05
If you're incredibly anxious to get your hands on a copy of the Red Hot Chili Peppers' new album, Stadium Arcadium, a leaked copy of it is currently available to download illegally. But one word of warning -doing so will break the Chili's hearts.

In a statement on the band's official website, Michael Balzary (better known as 'Flea' to Chili Peppers' fans) made a statement about the early leak of their new album, which is due out May 9. In the statement Flea expressed to fans how hurt the band is that their record was leaked.

"If you download it now off one of these file sharing sites you will be getting a pale imitation of the record. It will be of the poor sound quality of the technique they used to get it on there
and that will break my heart."

He goes on to say that it's not so much the financial theft that bothers the band, but their artistic integrity.

"I can not put in words how much this record, Stadium Arcadium, means to us, how sacred the sound of it is to us, and how many sleepless nights and hardworking days we all had thinking about how to make it be the best sounding thing we could. And now, for someone to take it and put it out there with this poor sound quality it is a painful pill for us to swallow."

The Chili Peppers' bassist concludes by saying that stealing the record they worked so hard on is "lame" but says "everyone has to live with their own conscience on that one, let it be your guide."
