As the weather starts to warm up and music festivals are being launched left, right and centre, it's sometimes hard to decide which festivals to save your pennies for. But for fans who have some time from June 29 to July 2, and who wouldn't mind heading over to Denmark for a few days, the Roskilde Festival should be at the top of the list.
Taking place at the Animal Show grounds, just south of Roskilde, Denmark, the festival has been taking place since the seventies. In fact, the Roskilde Festival is the second biggest in the world, second to only the UK's Glastonbury Festival in both crowd size and caliber of artists attending.
In an effort to save space, we won't list all of the bands heading to this year's fest, but they will include American hard rockers Guns N' Roses, UK indie-rock hype machines the Arctic Monkeys, Cocky Hip Hoper Kanye West, and folk rocker turned satellite radio DJ Bob Dylan.
Other bands at the fest will include Franz Ferdinand, Coheed & Cambria, Death Cab for Cutie, the Editors, the Kaiser Chiefs, Lady Sovereign, Damien Marley, Rufus Wainwright, Animal Collective, Clap Your Hands and Say Yeah, Coldcut, Goldfrapp, Jenny Lewis, Morrissey, The Raconteurs, Sigur RŰs, The Strokes, and Tool.
Tickets are currently going for about 180 Euros, which is roughly $230 US, or $250 Canadian.
