Nashville Star Finalist George Canyon

Will the next Nashville Star join Canuck Shania Twain at the top of the charts? Nova Scotia native George Canyon hopes so. Canyon and 19 other hopefuls performed before a live audience and broadcast for the first show in the second season of Nashville Star. Canyon was the first to perform and the first of the 10 finalists chosen. He joins what is truly an international line up of performers. Northern Ireland native Mal Rodgers is also among the 10 finalists in the competition for the title of Nashville Star. An eleventh performer will be chosen by the television viewing audience.

George Canyon has been performing since he was four years old. The singer – songwriter is also a multi-instrumentalist; his instruments include electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, mandolin, dobro ( a type of guitar), harmonica, and keyboards. Canyon is a fan of tradition in both his life and his music. In addition to competing on Nashville Star, George Canyon is also busy as a husband and father. He is also working on a new album which will be his third release.

Nashville Star topped off the evening of competitors with a performance by the first Nashville Star winner Buddy Jewell. After which country star Clint Black presented Jewell with his first gold album.

Nashville Star airs on CMT in Canada and the USA Network in the US.
