Beatles for Download

Published: 2006-04-17
It isn't hard to pick up music from the comfort of your own home. Sitting in front of the computer you can legally download millions of tunes online from country, pop, rock and punk there's a myriad of genres and artists you can pick up from any number of digital music outlets. But there is one gaping exception; the Beatles.

Though the Beatles aren't the only hold outs in digital music downloads, bands like Led Zeppelin, Metallica and Garth Brooks have also withheld their music for online purchase, they are the most noticeable hold outs. But that's all about to change.

According to Neil Aspinall, who runs Apple Corps, a company owned by the Beatles the surviving members of the band, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr have decided to begin selling their music as downloads.

Apple corps is in the process of remastering original Beatles albums for reissue and figured that that would also be the perfect time to release them to digital outlets as well.

As of yet there is no word as to when and to what outlets the tunes will be released to for purchase.
