Mike Janzen, Jacob Moon embark on CD release tour

Published: 2006-04-12
Founding member of The Penny Merchants, Mike Janzen, and multi-award-winning artist Jacob Moon are set to perform together in support of Janzen's first jazz album, Beginnings: LIVE, which Moon had an unexpected role in during the creative process.

"A year ago I egged Mike on to play just one showófor meóat the Unitarian Church in Hamilton, which had the best Steinway [piano] in the areaóoriginally owned by Glenn Gould," says Moon. "That request led to a live recording session, then to another, when Mike asked my producer, Glen Marshall, to capture the concert. The result is the Beginnings CD. These shows, and Mike's album, celebrate the culmination of our efforts and the unexpected result of a simple dream to play a concert with Glenn Gould's piano."

Moon will also be taking to the stage and mesmerizing his fans with his trademark command of the guitar and relaxed, warm vocals as he sings from his latest release, Eventide. The critically-acclaimed album has garnered Moon a slew of recognitions from The Hamilton Music Scene Awards, including nominations for Best Male Artist, Best Folk Recording, Male Vocalist of the Year, Guitarist of the Year, and Record of the Year.

Details of the shows are as follows:

Friday May 5, First Unitarian Church - Hamilton
Saturday May 13, The Registry Theatre - Kitchener

Tickets for the shows are $12adv/$15 door and are available at www.ticketwindow.ca.
