Pocket Dwellers Create Their Own Sound

Published: 2004-03-05
The eight piece band from Toronto known as the Pocket Dwellers mixes a variety of musical styles and instruments to create their own sound. The Pocket Dwellers carry the standard drums and guitars of most and; then they add a horn section to the mix, which enable them to play a larger variety of music. What make the Pocket Dwellers different from most bands is that the band also travels with two turntables. And they aren't for playing tunes while the band takes a break. The turntables are used like instruments as a part of the band ensemble.

"Lifecheck" is the latest release by the Pocket Dwellers. The CD is a live recording that was taped over two nights during a performance at The Reverb in Toronto. To help support the album the Pocket Dwellers are making a small tour to a few of Canada's larger markets.
