No Doubtís Tony Kanal Launches Label

While bandmate Gwen Stefani is off making babies and solo records the other members of No Doubt have been fairly quiet since their greatest hits package in 2003.

Now former bassist Tony Kanal is set to release something, except rather than putting out some of his own new music he'll be releasing someone else's. Kanal will be launching his own label, Kingsbury Studios, later this spring.

His first release will be the debut album of reggae artist Elan. According to Billboard, Kanal saw Elan performing with the Wailers former backup band of legendary reggae artist Bob Marley. Kanal said, "I, along with everyone in the audience, was amazed to see this kid do justice to Bob Marley's vocals."

Elan's album Together As One is slated for a May 23 release and will feature a duet with Kanals' No Doubt band mate Gwen Stefani. The two also paired on a cover of "Slave to Love" by Bryan Ferry for the soundtrack to the movie 50 First Dates.

Elan's first single "Girl" is out now, and he'll be on the road with UB40 this spring.

Rumors are also swirling that Kanal himself will be making some music in the near future. In fact, there are even whispers that a new No Doubt album may be on the way.
