Diana Krall & Friends To Play Benefit Gala

Published: 2004-03-05
While most people who attend a major function worry over what they will wear, singer Diana Krall is wondering what she will sing for her performance tonight with her husband rocker Elvis Costello and their friend Sir Elton John. The concert is an intimate affair with only 600 people. The concert is a benefit for the leukemia program at Vancouver General Hospital. Krall has been helping raise money for the program since 1998. The leukemia program at Vancouver General is a cause close to Krall's heart because the program took care of Krall's mother until she died in May of 2002. The performance tonight at the Fairmont Hotel in Vancouver is the first benefit Krall has held for the program since her mother's death. Krall could have easily raised more money by holding the benefit is a larger venue, but she didn't want to lose the feelings of love and closeness tied to the leukemia program. Krall plans to use that intimacy to help her decide what she will sing for the performance.
