Aerosmith cutting tour short

Published: 2006-03-24
Aerosmith has officially cancelled the remainder of their Rockin the Joint tour.

According to the band's official fan club website, "Aerosmith have been forced to cancel the remaining dates of their 'Rockin' The Joint' sold-out North American tour (which has been ongoing since October 2005) in order for lead singer Steven Tyler to have surgery. Despite Aerosmith's desire to keep the tour going as long as possible, Tyler's doctors advised him not to continue performing to give his voice time to recover."

The band has been cancelling tour dates since March 4 in Pensacola, Florida. For awhile it looked as though the band would pick up the tour again at some point, but now it is certain that the dates are completely cancelled, at least for the time being.

No word on if or when the cancelled dates would be made up.

The band has cancelled five Canadian tour dates, including Montreal and London in March and Saskatoon, Edmonton, and Vancouver in April.
