Christina Aguilera Goes Back to Basics with New Album

Published: 2006-03-23
By this summer you will be hearing probably one of the most anticipated albums of 2006. Christina Aguilera is taking a page from the Billie Holiday book of jazz and soul for her new album titled Back To Basics. On her third effort, Aguilera makes music that first inspired her career with the soul, jazz, and blues from the 1920s, 30s, and 40s. DJ Premier will be helming the project as producer for five songs on the upcoming album.

Aguilera, like her last album, Stripped, is venturing into new territory with Basics, but delving further into left field instead of duplicating her sound from her previous two albums.

Aguilera first rose to fame in the late 90s as part of a growing pop scene (Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, etc.). She was known as one of the leading ladies of pop music heading into the 21st century, with such hits as "Genie in a Bottle" and "Beautiful" under her belt. Aguilera is continuing to forge ahead with her career on Back To Basics, which is due out by June in a record store near you.

I'll definitely be buying that! I think she's one of the best female artists out there and her voice is just phenomenal! What I also loved and really admired about 'Stripped' is that it showed how much she's grown as a persaon and an artist. Go Christina! May God bless your marriage.
