Dirty Pretty Things release debut

While Pete Doherty has been making headlines for things that have little to do with the Babyshambles, his former Libertines band member Carl Barat's been working on a new album.

After the Libertine's split in 2004, due mostly to bad blood between Doherty and Barat, Barat formed the Dirty Pretty Things with bassist Didz Hammond, drummer Gary Powell, and guitarist Anthony Rossomando.

Fresh off of the SXSW bandwagon, the band is getting ready to release their debut CD Waterloo to Anywhere. The album was recorded in both LA with producer Dave Sardy and in Glasgow with producer Tony Doogan.

The first single is due out in late April when the band will be touring the UK and Europe. As of yet, there is no word on whether they'll be heading to North America. If they're not, fans will just have to be happy to listen to their new disc, which hits stores on May 8.

Carl is cool but he'll never be as cool or as talented a songwriter or guitarist as Pete. Pete is lethal and he never should have left him - some friend he was.
