Lollapalooza organizers have announced their 2006 lineup, which features an eclectic mix of acts.
The list of performers for the music festival was announced, oddly enough, at another music festival currently taking place, SXSW. This years Lollapalooza will feature Kanye West, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Wilco, and Queens of the Stone Age.
The three day fest, which takes place from August 4 to 6, used to be a traveling affair when it began in 1991, but people began to lose interest in the festival starting in 1997. In 2005 during its renaissance the festival committed to a location at Chicago's Grant Park.
So here's just some of the artists who'll be at Lollapalooza '06: The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kanye West, Manu Chao, Wilco, Death Cab for Cutie, The Raconteurs, The Flaming Lips, Ween, Queens of the Stone Age, The Shins, Common, Matisyahu, Ryan Adams, Sonic Youth, Sleater-Kinney, Nickel Creek, Blues Traveler, Broken Social Scene, The New Pornographers, Eels, Panic! At the Disco, The Disco Biscuits, Reverend Horton Heat, Lady Sovereign, Nada Surf, Feist, Mute Math, The Subways, Of Montreal, Blue October, Matt Costa, and many, many more.
Tickets for the festival cost $130 (US). For more info and the full band listing check out http://www.lollapalooza.com
