Blondie Planning Road Rage Tour With 'The New Cars'

Published: 2006-03-16
Seventies punk rockers Blondie are heading on the road with The New Cars, a reincarnation of the new wave sensation formally known as The Cars.

Original Cars guitarist Elliot Easton and keyboardist Greg Hawkes decided to put together a new version of their seventies synth pop band, and asked musician Todd Rundgren to sing lead for the new project. Bassist Kasim Sulton and drummer Prairie Prince will round out the band.

Though former Cars front man Ric Ocasek opted out of joining his former bandmates, he expressed his support for the band's new efforts.

The New Cars' first release, entitled The New Cars: It's Alive, will be a collection of greatest hits performed by the new band, as well as a few new tracks. The album will be in stores May 9, but if you buy a ticket to their new tour through VH1classic.com or Ticketmaster.com you get five digital songs by the band in the package.
