MIR make landfall in Germany

Published: 2006-03-15
Halifax pop rock group MIR is taking their act out to Germany. The band has signed with Silversonic Records, a division of Germany's Phoenix Music Group. According to ChartAttack, "the deal includes full marketing and promotion for 7 Directions, their new European release that contains a combination of 14 songs from the Canadian version of that album and The Acoustic Record."

7 Directions came out in Canada in 2004, while The Acoustic Record came out here in 2005. The trio, who were nominated for best group at the East Coast Music Awards, consists of brothers Asif Illyas and Shehab Illyas, as well as drummer/percussionist Adam Dowling. The band has been described as, "one of the most innovative and melodic new groups to come out of Canada," blending electronica, world music, and a pinch of pop.

The band will also spend the end of April and the beginning of May showing off their stuff for their new German audience. But before they go they'll do a few shows at home:

March 16 Port Hawkesbury, NS - SAERC Theatre
March 17-18 Annapolis Royal, NS - King's Theatre
March 18 Claire, NS - Social Club
April 1 Halifax, NS - The Pogue Fado
