U2 reschedules for November

Published: 2006-03-14
After cancelling the last ten dates of their Vertigo tour U2 have announced that they will reschedule the dates for this coming November.

Earlier this month U2 cancelled ten tour dates in New Zealand, Australia, Japan, and Hawaii due to an illness in the family of one of the band members. Neither the illness nor the affected band member was identified.

On an Australian television show on March 13 Bono announced that those ten dates would be made up this year. "There was a lot of distress and angst and [the] good news is ... I can announce tonight we are coming back, looks like November and that's a great relief for me," he said.

Bono even went on to add that those shows would probably be better than if they were performed as scheduled between March 17 and April 8, because by November the band would not have played those songs in a long while, and that the band member affected by a family illness would be in much higher spirits.

In their entire career, U2 has only postponed shows once before. Oddly enough, that was also in Australia in the eighties.
