Ladies and Gentlemen turn to Small Sins

Published: 2006-03-03
Indie pop one-man-band Ladies and Gentlemen had time to release only one album before having to relinquish their name. Thomas D'Arcy the man behind the band told Chartattack, "There are a few other Ladies And Gentlemens, most notably one in Chicago. They have the 'dot com,' which seems like the modern version of a trademark".
So Ladies and Gentlemen are now Small Sins, which coincidently is also the name of the debut album released under the former name.
D'Arcy has done most of the songwriting and producing himself, which he doesn't mind since Ladies and Gentlemen began to receive some good buzz. Though he's not too pleased about having to move away from the name that received all that support, he is moving on. He stated, "names don't mean much at first, but become synonymous with the type of music instead of the other way around. It's a headache to have to change the name, but my attachment was minimal, so the reaction was pure business. 'We have to change it? Fine. Let's find something new by the end of the day and get on with more important things.'"
The old band under the new name is heading out on tour. Small Sins has already stopped in Montreal but you can still catch D'Arcy in Toronto this weekend for Canadian Music Week, and these other places in Ontario:

March 3 Toronto, ON - Horseshoe
March 6 Hamilton, ON - The Underground
March 8 Barrie, ON - The Foundation
March 9 Ottawa, ON - Zaphod's
March 10 Kingston, ON - The Grad Club
March 11 London, ON - Call The Office
